The Most Popular Snowbird Routes
- New York and New Jersey to Florida, straight down I-95.
- Ohio and the Midwest to Florida on I-75.
- Pennsylvania to Florida or Arizona.
- The Midwest and Texas to Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson and Yuma.
Why Snowbirds Ship Instead of Drive
A 1,200-mile drive twice a year means four long days in the car, plus hotels, fuel, tolls and the wear on you and the car. Shipping means a short flight and your own car waiting when you land. And if you have two cars at home, you don’t have to choose which one comes along.
Seniors and Retirees
Retiring to a new state, moving closer to family, or no longer up for a long drive? We ship cars for seniors and retirees all year, not just in snowbird season. A friend or family member can handle the handoff at either end if you can’t be there. Questions are easier by phone. Call (424) 453-1800 and talk to a real person.
Before You Leave
- Book a few weeks ahead, especially for late October to mid-December.
- Leave a quarter tank of fuel and take out personal items.
- Pack belongings separately. Carriers can’t haul household goods in the car.
- Take dated photos of the car before pickup.
Snowbird Questions
When should snowbirds book car shipping?
A few weeks before you travel. Heading south, October through December is busiest. Heading home, it’s March through May. Booking early gives you more carrier options in peak weeks.
Can I book the return trip at the same time?
You can ask for both prices in one call. Many snowbirds book the trip home a few weeks before they leave in spring, once their dates are firm.
Can someone else hand over my car?
Yes. A neighbor, family member or building manager can release or receive the car and sign with the driver. Give us their name and number when you book.
Can the carrier get into my condo or 55+ community?
Sometimes. Many communities don’t allow big trucks inside the gate. If yours doesn’t, the driver meets you at the entrance or a nearby lot. Tell us about the rules when you book, or call (424) 453-1800.
